Hossein Karimi, born in 1998, is an independent artist, composer, guitarist, and vocalist working across rock, alternative, psychedelic, and experimental styles. He began his professional journey in an environment where the cultural and social climate—especially for independent and modern music—was highly restricted and challenging. Without access to educational infrastructure, professional studios, or the freedom to perform publicly, he pursued his artistic path as a self-taught musician with continuous determination.
Over the years, Hossein gradually became one of the influential figures in Persian-language independent rock music. His work includes live performances, collaborations with other artists, participation in cultural gatherings, production of conceptual pieces, guitar instruction, music consulting for filmmakers, and involvement in social and artistic events, including special programs such as International Women’s Day.
His music often carries a personal, conceptual, and social tone. Themes such as loneliness, mental turmoil, psychological pressure, social disarray, damaged human relationships, and the desire for liberation are central to many of his works. Songs like Faryad—which addresses addiction—and Shok—which explores the failure of human connections—reflect his thought-driven approach to music-making.
One of Hossein’s notable works is a piece titled Escape from Kabul, which mirrors his lived psychological experience during a critical period. This piece was composed as the original soundtrack for a documentary of the same name, directed by Jorge Said and produced in Chile with the support of Millenium Monde. The documentary focuses on the migration and escape of Afghans following political upheaval. Hossein served as the main composer and designed the soundtrack with a blend of psychedelic, electronic, and emotional tones, effectively conveying feelings of suffocation, instability, and the search for hope amid chaos.
Hossein Karimi released his first official album titled Cemetery of Hopes. This conceptual album offers a continuous narrative of the mental, emotional, and social state of individuals living in a confused and troubled society. With a style that fuses rock, psychedelic, post-rock, and native sonic elements, it aims to immerse the listener in a multilayered, dark, and emotive atmosphere. The album stands out not only musically but also for its cohesive and profound thematic content.
Hossein’s artistic vision is rooted in experimentation, emotional honesty, and a rejection of commercial entertainment formulas. He sees music as a tool for expression, reflection, and internal dialogue—using sound design and meaningful lyrics to explore complex human experiences. He believes that music must have depth and impact the listener's mind and psyche. His use of unconventional sounds, genre fusion, and exploration of often-ignored themes are hallmarks of his work.
